Why America’s Fiscal Reality Will Make Euthanasia Inevitable

A third of the Medicare budget is now spent in the last year of life, and a third of that goes for care in the last month. If everyone agreed to be euthanized 30 mere days before natural death, we would save 11 percent of the cost of Medicare. As end-of-life care gets ever more expensive, we’ll have no choice but to accept the cost savings from those who forgo it.
